Cocaine bust at farmhouse party in Hyderabad: After BRS ex-MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy now TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar tests positive

HYDERABAD: A day after former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy reportedly tested positive for drug use, Putta Mahesh Kumar, the TDP MP from Eluru, also tested positive. The two were among a group that had gathered for a party at a farmhouse owned by Rohith Reddy in Moinabad on Saturday night.Ten people were reportedly detained following an alleged drug bust at the farmhouse. According to police, around two grams of cocaine were seized from the premises.Preliminary reports suggested that Rohith Reddy and the former Rajasthan MLA tested positive for cocaine.Police also said that one of the detained individuals fired two rounds in the air using a firearm that belonged to Rohith Reddy’s brother.Acting on a tip-off that a group was hosting a party involving narcotics, a five-member team from the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement raided the farmhouse around 9.30pm. However, officials claimed they initially faced resistance from security personnel at the gate as well as from Rohith Reddy and were not immediately allowed to enter the property.Sources said that besides Rohith Reddy, the Eluru MP and a former Rajasthan MLA, a woman was also present at the gathering. Police believe that one of the individuals present could have been a gunman attached to one of the politicians. All ten individuals were taken to a local government hospital where anti-narcotic tests were conducted. Rohith Reddy and the former Rajasthan MLA reportedly tested positive. Officials said the accused could be produced before a magistrate.
