Complaint filed against woman for protesting traffic jam during BJP rally in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A complaint application has been filed against a woman who protested over a traffic jam and shouted at Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan during a BJP rally in Mumbai related to the women’s reservation bill, police said on Friday.A woman named Zen Sadavarte has submitted an application to the local police against the woman for allegedly creating a disturbance during the incident. “She submitted the application late on Thursday evening around 7pm or 7.30pm. The local police are looking into the matter,” said a senior officer. However, he added that he was not aware of the specific contents of the complaint.Zen is the daughter of lawyer Gunratna Sadavarte. The incident took place in Mumbai’s Worli area on Tuesday during a BJP-organised rally held to criticise opposition parties over the defeat of the Constitution Amendment Bill aimed at fast-tracking 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.During the rally, an agitated woman confronted minister Mahajan while he was speaking to reporters, alleging that road closures were causing inconvenience to commuters. “Get out of here. You are causing a traffic jam,” she said, questioning why the event was not held at a nearby open ground. In her complaint, Zen Sadavarte alleged that the woman created a ruckus, used abusive language during the rally, and caused public disturbance.
