LeBron James left basketball fans wondering about his future after the Los Angeles Lakers were knocked out of the NBA playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. The Lakers lost 115-110 at Crypto.com Arena, completing a 4-0 series sweep in the Western Conference semifinals. After the game, James openly admitted that he still does not know if he wants to continue playing in the NBA.The 41-year-old star finished the game with 24 points and 12 rebounds, once again showing why he remains one of the league’s biggest names even after more than two decades in professional basketball. But this time, the conversation after the loss was not only about the game. It quickly shifted toward his future. According to league sources, James is sincerely unsure about whether he wants to keep playing. ESPN and other NBA insiders also reported that the Lakers star plans to spend time with his family before making any final decision about retirement or free agency.

LeBron James says family discussions and love for basketball process will decide his next NBA move

Speaking after the playoff loss, LeBron James did not give a clear answer about what comes next. Instead, he sounded thoughtful and emotional while talking about the possibility of retirement.“I don’t know what the future holds for me,” James said. “Obviously as it stands right now, tonight, I’ve got a lot of time. I’ll go back and recalibrate with my family and talk with them, and spend some time with them, and then when the time comes, obviously you guys will know what I decide to do.”James explained that the biggest question for him is whether he still loves the daily work that comes with being an NBA player. He said the preparation behind the scenes matters just as much as the games themselves.“I think for me, it’s about the process, you know, if I can commit to still being in love with the process of showing up to the arena five-and-a-half hours before a game to start preparing,” James said.Even though questions about retirement continue to grow, James made it clear he does not feel pressure to prove anything more in basketball. The four-time NBA champion said his career already speaks for itself.“There’s nothing I need to show in this league,” James said. “I’ve done it all, I’ve seen it all. So you know, just trying to compete and trying to win championships, I think that’s a motivating factor.”James is now set to become a free agent this offseason after earning $52.6 million with the Lakers this year. While a return to Los Angeles remains possible, several teams are expected to show interest if he decides to continue his career.
