Pakistan’s High Commission in New Delhi has issued over 2,800 visas to Indian pilgrims for Baisakhi celebrations to be held in Pakistan from April 10 to 19.During the visit, pilgrims are expected to travel to major Sikh religious sites, including Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib. The annual pilgrimage is part of established cross-border religious travel between the two countries.Extending greetings on the occasion, Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in India, Saad Ahmad Warraich, said, “We wish the pilgrims a fulfilling and spiritually rewarding stay in Pakistan.” “This visit is an affirmation of Pakistan’s abiding commitment to promote interreligious and intercultural harmony and understanding,” he added. The High Commission also said all arrangements, including travel, accommodation and access to religious sites, have been put in place to ensure the pilgrims’ visit is safe, organised and spiritually meaningful. The pilgrimage is being conducted under the Bilateral Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, 1974, which governs religious travel between India and Pakistan.
