AHMEDABAD: A 17-year-old girl from Ranip, allegedly, was befriended by a 14-year-old girl and lured to Mount Abu on the promise of a New Year party, where she was drugged, sexually assaulted, and filmed without her knowledge. She learned what had happened to her months later when the video went viral on social media. According to a complaint she filed with the Ranip police on Friday.Roshani Solanki, assistant commissioner of police (SC/ST cell) said that “they have arrested a 26-year-old man from Kalol for the alleged sexual assault, and kept the minor under observation”. The complainant told police she became friends with the 14-year-old girl through Instagram about a year ago and the two stayed in regular contact.

“On Dec 30, 2025, she received a call inviting her to join a New Year’s Eve party at Mount Abu. She agreed and travelled from Ahmedabad to Kalol, where she met the minor girl and a man. The group boarded a train to Mount Abu late that night, arrived early on December 31, and checked into a hotel,” the complaint stated.Later that afternoon, according to the complaint, the minor girl and the man asked the complainant to join them in a separate room to continue the party. The victim told police, “They were drinking beer and gave me a cola to drink. After drinking it, I began to feel intoxicated and lost consciousness. When I regained awareness, my clothes were scattered. I suspected something wrong had happened. I questioned the two but got no satisfactory answer.” She later returned to Ahmedabad alone by train.The matter came to light months later. On Wednesday, another girl informed her that a nude video of her had gone viral on social media groups. “The video showed the man sexually assaulting me while I was semi-conscious, and the minor girl filming the act and touching me inappropriately,” she told police.“I realised that I was called to Mount Abu on the pretext of a New Year party, and was cheated,” the victim states in her complaint. “He forcibly established physical relations with me in the hotel room, and she recorded my video and made it viral.”Ranip police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita including rape, sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, gang rape, causing hurt by means of poison with intent to commit an offence, criminal breach of trust, and assault with intent to outrage modesty and disrobe. The case has also been registered under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, and the Atrocity Act.
