OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu steps down, company gives update on India operations

OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu has stepped down from his role, the company has confirmed. The development comes amidst reports of an ongoing restructuring of the Chinese phone maker’s business in global markets. Robin Liu joined OnePlus in 2018. In an official statement, OnePlus India said: “We thank Robin for his contributions to OnePlus India. He moves on to pursue his personal passions, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours”. The company also shared an update on its India operations. “OnePlus India operations continue with local strategy and business continuity ensured,” the company said.According to an Economic Times report, Liu was asked to report to Realme CEO Sky Li who has recently been elevated within the Oppo group to look after the overall sub-brand operations. Sources told the publication that Liu and Li were considered equals managing two sub-brands earlier.Liu had previously rejected claims that OnePlus is shutting its operations in India. Sharing a post on X (formerly Twitter) in January 2026, Liu clarified that “unverified reports claiming OnePlus is shutting down are false,” “OnePlus India’s business operations continue as normal.” “We urge all stakeholders to verify information from official sources before sharing unsubstantiated claims,” Liu added.

OnePlus’ declining sales

OnePlus recorded a 32 per cent decline in shipments in 2025, says a PTI report that quoted data from Cybermedia Research. Similarly, International Data Corporation (IDC) has estimated a 38.8 per cent decline in the company’s shipments in 2025 on a Year-on-Year basis.
