13-year-old girl on way to school, kidnapped, gangraped in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: A 13-year-old class 8 student was kidnapped while returning home from school and gang-raped by two men in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar district.The minor was recovered late at night by police after they broke down the door of the room where she was being held. Both the accused were arrested.The horrific crime took place in a village under the Jukehi police outpost in the district. The girl went to school as usual around 10 am on Friday. The school is only about 100 metres from her house. However, when she did not return until late, her family began searching for her and, around 9 pm, reported the matter to the police. A missing person’s report was registered at the Jukehi outpost, and police teams began searching for the minor.“The girl is only 13 years old. Our teams were put on alert, and we started our search in areas near the school. While our teams were questioning locals, a few youths started running after seeing the police. Chased, they went inside a room and bolted it from inside. Through the windows, our team saw a girl. The door was broken, and the girl was recovered close to midnight,”Maiharcity superintendent of policeMahendra Singh Chouhan told TOI.He added, “Both the accused, identified as Sunny Kohli, 25, and DeepakBasor, 35, were arrested. Deepak is a habitual offender and is wanted in several cases.”The minor told police that the accused lured her by saying they would give her something, then locked her in the room and took turns to rape her.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect their privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
