ACP-rank officer held for flashing 9-year-old girl in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The Worli police in Central Mumbai recently arrested an assistant commissioner of police rank officer in a case for allegedly flashing a nine-year-old girl at a garden in Worli. The accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody.A police source said that they arrested the accused soon after getting the complaint. “The accused had flashed his private parts. The incident took place on April 23 and we arrested the accused,” said a police officer. There is only one complaint against the accused police officer so far, said the officer. The accused is attached to the Wireless department at the DG office as deputy superintendent of police. “His family stays in Nagpur and he was posted in Mumbai last year. He has been staying at the police camp in Worli since he came to Mumbai,” said a police officer.The incident took place in a public garden in Worli. There are no CCTV cameras at the spot where the alleged crime took place. Police are in the process of gathering evidence and have recorded the statement of the minor girl. The victim’s mother works as a domestic help and her family approached the police after learning about the crime.The accused has been booked for molestation, outraging the modesty of a woman under the BNS act and punishment for sexual harrassment under the protection of children from sexual offences (Pocos) act. Further probe is on.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
