BENGALURU: A shopping trip allegedly turned traumatic for an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer and his wife who claimed they were assaulted by an auto driver, his passenger, and a group of men in a road rage incident near Jalahalli Cross. The officer told police that he and his wife had gone to purchase a microwave oven from a showroom on Tumakuru Road on the night of May 2. As the store was closing, they were asked to return the next day.Due to a traffic jam, the couple had parked their vehicle at a distance and were walking back when the incident unfolded. They requested an auto driver to make way for pedestrians. It angered a passenger inside the auto, who began arguing with them. The argument soon escalated, with both the auto driver and the passenger allegedly abusing and threatening the couple. Even as they tried to walk away, one of the men reportedly grabbed a tree branch and allegedly assaulted him.Soon, a group of 6-7 men allegedly joined in, chased the couple, and assaulted the officer, while his wife was also pushed and hit.The attackers allegedly fled in the auto when the officer attempted to call for help. The complaint was filed only on May 5. Bagalagunte police registered the case
