Horrific murder-suicide: Virginia Ex-Lt Gov Justin Fairfax guns down wife, shoots self over complicated divorce

Former Democratic Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax shoots and kills wife before taking his own life.

Fairfax County Police responded to a horrific murder suicide in Virginia early on Thursday morning after former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax killed his wife and then killed himself. “This seems to be an ongoing domestic dispute surrounding a complicated or messy divorce,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis told reporters outside the home.Fairfax shot his wife several times and then ran to a different part of the home and killed himself with the same gun. Their teenage children were present in the home when the murder and suicide took place. One of them called 911. Officers from the Fairfax County Police Department were called shortly after midnight to a residence on Guinevere Drive in Annandale, where they discovered a man and a woman dead inside. The home belonged to Fairfax and his wife, Cerina.First, responding officers found the woman unconscious and bleeding. Then the canine units and a helicopter were deployed to search the premises. Fairfax was then located at a different part of the house, lying dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Fairfax, the former Democratic lieutenant governor, served under former Governor Ralph Northam and faced public accusations from two women in 2019, who alleged he sexually assaulted them in separate incidents in 2000 and 2004. He denied all the allegations at that time and said both the encounters were consensual.
