NEW DELHI: A major security scare emerged in Bengaluru on Sunday ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit after two gelatine sticks were found near the main event venue.According to the DIG of Bengaluru’s Central Range, the explosives were discovered during a security check on Sunday morning, around 3 km from the venue where the Prime Minister was scheduled to arrive.“During checking, two gelatine sticks were found on the side of the footpath, nearly 3 kms away from the main venue where PM Modi was scheduled to arrive. Further investigation is under way,” the officer said. This comes a day after intelligence agencies placed Delhi on high alert following inputs about a possible terror threat, prompting Delhi Police and other security agencies to step up surveillance at several sensitive locations.“Police have been directed to maintain strict vigil on suspicious movements, unattended objects and vehicles parked in sensitive zones,” an official told PTI.
