PITHORAGARH: A case under the POCSO Act has been registered against a minor after a 14-year-old girl gave birth to a child at the district hospital on Monday.Both are natives of Munsyari and had met in school. They had married at a temple last year. They were later living in Pune, where the boy works at a private firm. He is currently in Pune and has not returned to Munsyari.Doctors informed police after the girl was brought to the hospital by her in-laws, complaining of labour pain. Sub-inspector Babita Tamta said, “A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and investigation is underway.”The girl’s father works in Pune as a guard, while her mother had left the family. She was living with her stepmother in Munsyari and had gone to Pune after the marriage.Child Welfare Committee chairman Laxman Singh Khati said, “We were informed about the case on Monday and are monitoring the girl’s condition at the hospital. Arrangements have been made for her care.”
